Yuukan Judo Club

2012 Country Championships 27/10/12

Yuukan members competed in the 2012 Country Championships held in Bomaderry.
Eva competed in 2 divisions in the mons and won the Silver and Bronze trophy.
Nicholas fought in the Junior boys division and winning the bronze medal.
Riley competed in the under 50kg junior boys taking out his division to be the country champion for 2012.
Amelie did not have any one in her division so competed in the senior girls and won the bronze trophy.
Lance had one fight in the senior boys taking home the silver trophy.
Molly also had one fight in the senior girls with a lovely win taking home the Gold trophy and the country champion for 2012.
Michael competed in the under 55kg senior boys and took home the silver trophy, Michael thought it would be nice to take a ride in an ambulance to the hospital after what we all thought was a broken rib, fortunately it wasn't and he was fine.
Blake fought in the cadet men winning his fights also taking home the gold trophy and the country champion for 2012, however he fought in the senior mens and after being strangled out we withdrew him from the competition.
This competition also hosted the 2012 Firemans world championships where we saw some fantastic judo from around the world. Our members were lucky enough to have photos taken with the French team.
We also had a spectator come up to Michael and I to congratulate him for great sportsmanship in fighting a newer competitor and how he showed that he could compete and win without hurting the other competitor. We all know we have great members in our club, but it is nice when it is recognised outside the club aswell. Well done Michael we are proud of you too.

South Coast Open 28/10/12

The second day saw Blake out after being knocked out on the Saturday, again Luke did not compete because of his back. But it also saw Jake compete in his second ever tournament.
Eva came 4th
Amelie fought so well and came away with the Gold trophy.
Nicholas the silver trophy.
Rileys division saw it come down to points after they each had a win and a loss each, it was unfortunate for Riley who won with golden score so it saw him bring home a 3rd place and the bronze trophy.
Lance got a 2nd and a silver trophy.
Molly had one fight and won 1st place and bought home the Gold trophy.
Michaels division had all equal points and wins at the end of the bouts and it was decided that they would put the boys names in a hat to fight off and then the winner out of the  2 would go to fight the other competitor. This saw Michael fight first and unluckily just lost this match. He came away with 3rd place and the bronze trophy.
Jake had many boys in his division and he did extremely well, He came away with 3rd place and a bronze trophy.
