2013 Oceania Judo Championships
Blake left on the Saturday to go to the NTID camp at Yorkies Knob where he trainned for for 6 days before his competition on the Saturday.
He then met up with the rest of the Australian Team at the Shangri La hotel.
Blake weighed in at 62kg with plenty of room for Chris famous Spag Bol for the night before tournament dinner. We were all at the convention centre at 9am, but it was a long day waitng as Blake didnt compete until 4pm.
We thank you all, as we know that may of you were sitting on your computers live streaming the compeition and he had lots of support.
His first fight was against a New Zealand player, he won this fight, his next fight was against an Australian where he was taken down by an armbar and strangle and he tapped out, his third fight was for the bronze medal, again he lost to a strangle where he tapped out. We are so proud of Blake and his fights, congratulations, Blake did is best and came away 4th in the Under 66kg Cadet.
Now for our time away after the competiton....as Blake only fought on the Saturday it gave us all day Sunday and Sunday Night to explore Carins and see the attractions. So of course we went on a crocodile cruise... this tme we saw, wait for it... NO CROCODILES, however we went to the Cock and Bull for dinner where Blake decided to get the Crocodile Snitzel and Vege, we also had some time catching up with Michael and Mel Claire, Was great to hear about their adventures in Cairns, and how they are enjoying their time. We also went to the Cairns night market where we saw a lady who wrote on rice for great gifts to take home. Again we had a great time, this tme with the Zahra and the Naidoo.
Thank you to Jill Morris, Bawley/Kioloa Sport and Recreation Club.
