2016 Kodokan National Championships

Over the October long weekend, Riley, Marcus, Jack, Amelie, Eva, Paris, Bella, Jono, Raedon, Bodin and Cammi all weighed in on the Friday night and then we left for an awesome night and Sleep out at Narellan where we all bunked down for the night.
We all woke with an early start for a Saturday Morning to start the competition day.
What an awesome day. You all did so well and although you all did not win medals, this did not show how well you actually achieved and you should be proud. The experience alone is one that you have accomplished as just getting on the mat to compete is impressive. Congratulations to all our juniors.
The afternoon saw our seniors Penny, Roger and Tony all weigh in for their competition for the next day. For Tonys first competition for judo, he also did fantastic, coming up against an ex Olympian and at one stage ranked 10th in the world, Roger also coming back after a break in judo to get on the mat and compete with younger judoka.
Yuukan would also like to thank Mick Cutajar and David Gorge and all your awesome volunteers who helped run a top competition, it was well organized and the kids all had a great time. Thank you so much.

with Penny, Riley and Bodin all taking the Gold medals in their weight divisions.

And Bella, Jono, Eva all getting second place and silver medals
And also bronze medalists Amelie and Raedon bringing home 3rd place
We also unfortunately had some injuries, nothing major,
Riley and Amelie with shoulder injuries and Marcus with a bleeding nose..

Riley also was one of 3 who won a judo gi for the throw of the day. Thanks to RS Gis and Rusty (Daniel Rusitovic Gis)
