2016

A new year and with it brings new tournaments and events but also a new venue.
We moved into the Beachside Villiage Caravan Park and we have had the best year ever.
Then, we changed from JFA to Kodokan, which has been a great financial relief to many of our parents and the stress of travelling to compulsory training has eased as we managed to get triple the amount of National Competitors then we have ever done in previous years with 14 members who competed and we are extremely proud of you all...
Roger, Tony, Penny, Riley, Marcus, Jack, Paris, Amelie, Eva, Cammi, Bella, Jono, Raedon, Bodin.
We have had "new" additions to the club with Kaiden and Archer and of course baby Aurelie, with the new additions we also had many "visitors" such as Sensei Major Whipp, Beau and Blake who would come down and train when they got a chance.

We had a sign that was erected on the fence out the front of our hall which was donated by Roger which has been a great donation and we have had many "new" students come in and give it a go. Thanks Roger.

Unfortunately, this year the jumping pillow was out of action.. - RILEY but it was another awesome day, with lots of food and lots of water.
Thank you everyone who joined us in the celebration of the end of another year.

Our Raffle this year was 2 meat trays donated by the South Coast Meat Market and the winners are:-
1.   Marcus                                                          2. Fae

So we now announce the 2016 winners for the trophies.

THE 2016 PERPETUAL AWARD
The trophy that everyone strives to achieve.
This year it was given to Riley
He has been on the judo mat, not only with the juniors but also with the seniors, he helps sensei out as much as he can and he has been a great help at competitions and also in class.
We are extremely proud of him and after a long time off competitions because of injury, he entered the Kodokan Nationals and won GOLD in his division.
Congratulations.

THE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD
This year we have another club annual trophy which was donated by the Nolan Family,
The Nolan Family have been in judo since 2005 and Has had all 3 boys compete for Yuukan at different levels, Nationals, Oceanic, International. This is a way that Blake, Luke and Riley can give back to the club that has given so much to them.
This award is the Encouragement award, Some times our members go to competitions and may not always win, or they come to training and will be sitting quietly or helping out members, it doesn't go unnoticed and this year the winner of the Encouragement award is Raedon Well done. You have had a wonderful year and as a new award it is well deserved to start this annual trophy with your name at the beginning.

Another new annual trophy is the Most improved which was donated by Ashley Schofield, Ashley was at Ulladulla Judo Club, before it closed and we became Yuukan, He has been a National and International competitor and he too has given back to the club that has set him up on the right path. He has donated members their term fees in the past to help out members who have competed and trained and might need a little financial help, We wish to Thank Ashley for his kind donation of this award that will once be given to a well deserved member.
The most improved award goes to Bodin he has improved in his judo, his behaviour, his attitude and he is growing into a wonderful young man. He has competed in competitions and has tried his best at them all, with success at the 2016 Kodokan Nationals with a GOLD medal.
Congratulations Bodin we know that Ashley would be extremely proud of you receiving the fisrt annual award.

Riley has been assistant junior coach and helping sensei out in these classes and has been able to see the kids grow and their progress over the past year.  This is Rileys speech below.
The past year I was awarded with assistant coach of Yuukan judo club, it has been an amazing privilege to work with sensei chris and to be able to coach all you kids.
I have been watching who improved and put the most effort in. when we went to the national kodokan judo championships I watched over everyone in our club to see how great our competitors are there was one person who stood out on the mat, I remember watching her compete for the first time about 2 years ago and I am so proud of what she has achieved and become, she may only be little but she is one of the toughest little competitors I have ever met. She always has to come up against boys as well as girls and always tries her best.
I was given a gi at the nationals for the best throw of the day, by the kodokan committee however, when I went up to get my gi I thought that their was only one person who deserved this gi more than anyone else,
She had put in the most effort out of everyone in the competition, yet did not medal. So I asked if I could get a gi in a smaller size, they were all a bit confused, but once I explained, they were happy to give it to me, I decided that the only person that I wanted to give this to is …..

Well done ............
