2017
A new year over and with it bought amazing new adventures.
Our second year at Beachside Villiage Caravan Park and again we have had the best year ever.
How easy it has been with Kodokan and our members have enjoyed the rest and have enjoyed just enjoying judo. It has been a great financial relief to many of our parents and the stress of travelling to compulsory training has eased.
Members have competed at state levels and local levels with Amelie, Eva, Cammi, Bella, Jono, Raedon, Bodin, Aimon, Archer, Emily and Jennifer all doing wonderful work and bringing home medals.
We have had "new" additions to the club with Nat, Kai, Clancy, Yenje, River, Cooper who joined the junior team of Cami, Kaiden, Bo, Raedon, Jennifer, Aimon,
And members who stepped up from juniors to seniors, Aimon, Archer, Sam and Jaylee who then trained against Riley, Marcus, Tony, Penny, Amelie, Eva, Bella, Jono and Emily and new member Kai.
We also had many "visitors" such as Sensei George Lappin, Sensei Major Whipp and Blake who would come down and train when they got a chance.
Unfortunately, this year we also saw the move of one family which lowered the class numbers dramatically. But we are looking forward to judo training down in Bega in the new year with them and starting a new judo club.
We have had Kodokan Gradings, which is a great experience for our members, with Jaylee, Archer, Aimon, Nat, Kaiden, Sam, Cooper, Kai and Clancy who all were graded in the 2017 year.
A big thank you to Tony from Boree Street Cake and Pies, Who came with the most delicious vanilla slices. OMG they were scrumptious, we all had difficulty stopping at 2 slices and were fighting for the last one.
Thank you to all the parents, with out you bringing your kids to judo, we would not have a judo club. z
I hope you all enjoyed 2017 and look forward to celebrating another year with you all in 2018.
The 2017 Perpetual Winner
The Perpetual Trophy This trophy is the one that Yuukan members are hopefully striving to achieve. It is the major award in our club. Everyone should strive to get this award. This award is for the spirit of judo, it is for getting on the mat and sitting and listening and not yelling out, it is for going with partners who you may not want to go with, it is for doing pushups without complaining, it is about turning up for judo to do judo. It is for bowing on the mat and being ready for whatever comes on that day for training.
This years winner turns up and does all these things and much much more, not only with the juniors but also with the seniors, They are a quiet achiever, but we appreciate these quiet achievers because they make judo a pleasure for us to turn up to train and teach. I am proud to say that the winner is Jaylee.

2017 Encouragement Winner
The encouragement award This is the 2nd year for this trophy which was donated by the Nolan Family,
The Nolan Family have been in judo since 2005 and Has had all 3 boys compete for Yuukan at different levels, Nationals, Oceanic, International. This is a way that Blake, Luke and i can give back to our club that has given so much to us.This award is the Encouragement award, Some times our younger players physical ability don’t always fit in to their age category, this player has been moved from juniors to seniors and has great potential of being a top judoko, when they give it a go they are able to complete and challenge anything that they put their mind too. Their ability and strength shines through more than their struggles. I am extremely proud to give this award as I can see that being put up to seniors they have been able to keep up with the seniors as well as challenge themselves and does not complain when being put out of their comfort zone. The winner of the Encouragement award goes to Aimon.

Presentation from Roger to Riley
Roger Mayer awarded a sword to Riley for the dedication and commitment for all he does for the juniors in Yuukan Judo Club.
Riley is continually helping the students and has taken a mentoring role of junior sensei in the classes. He is a wonderful role model to the younger members of the club and he is respected by the parents and other senior members. Yuukan is extremely proud and would like to Congratulate Riley, who is a very well deserving recipient of the Sword.
