AMELIE GAUTIER

Amelie has been doing judo since the age of about 4, she competed at the Ulladulla Country Championships and other local tournaments, but she really started competing around 2009 when she joined Yuukan Judo Club and travelled with the Yuukan Judo Members to different competitions and tournaments.
With the JFA rules, Amelie could not compete on an International or National level until she was 9 and since 2013 she has not only competed but she continues to achieve remarkably with every competition that she travels to and competes in.

Amelie has competed at the International opens in NSW 2013, 2014 (1st), VIC 2013 (1st) ACT in 2013, 2014 (1st)
She has competed at the Country Championships in 2009, 2010, 2011 (3rd), 2012, 2013 (2nd), 2014 (1st)
She has represented NSW at the Judo National Championships in Wollongong in 2013 and 2014 (1st).

In 2014 Amelie competed in 11 competitions, Some local, but mainly internationally and nationally, where in those 11 tournaments, throughout the year, her  winning success was GOLD in her division in every tournament, including the 2014 Australian National Championships, The NSW International Open, ACT International Open, NSW State Selections, ACT State Selections, Country Championships, 2 x Shoalhaven Open, Illawarra International Open and 2 ACT Hills Academy tournaments

Amelie Gautier has returned home gold medalists from National Judo Tournament earlier this month.
Amelie, 10, took out the junior girls division of the four-day tournament.
“She has been on the mat doing judo since she was around four years old,”
“She loves it and she’s grown up around the sport.”
The tournament took place at Wollongong’s Win Entertainment Centre over the June long weekend and Bawley Point Yuukan Judo Club entered four competitors to this year’s event.
Amelie was the youngest competitor from the local club and the event was the second time she has competed on the national stage.
“She fought well and really hard,”
“She had to watch her weight going into the tournament because you fight according to weight division but it wasn’t too bad.”
Amelie has competed at many tournaments including Victorian School Championships in 2010, ACT, NSW and VIC International Open and Country Championships where she medalled.
She is known for not only being a strong competitor but a very vocal supporter of her fellow Yuukan members during competition.
The year 5 School student couldn’t wipe the smile from her face when she spoke to The Times about her first national gold medal success.
“I enjoyed the competition - it was great,” Amelie said.
“My favorite moment was standing up there getting my gold medal.
“I think my favorite fight was the last one, a girl from South Australia.
“It was good because it was a challenge; I had to use a lot of technical moves to get any points.”
