Yuukan Judo Club would like to wish Amelie (junior girls), Eva (junior girls), Rylan (junior boys), Penny (masters) Congratulations and good luck for the start of their journey to compete at the Australian Nationals held in Wollongong in June. This weekend is the start of the NSW compulsory state training in which these members will need to travel to Sydney every weekend (except one which will be held in Wollongong) to be selected for the NSW State Team to represent NSW at the Australian Nationals. This weekend they will need to train 2... days and complete 4 sessions then every Saturday as well as 2 nights training at our club until the long weekend in June. We are truly proud of them, as it is a huge commitment, it is extremely timely and costly for them and their parents to travel to Sydney and it shows great dedication to yourselves, to Yuukan Judo Club but to judo in NSW and Australia. Good Luck and remember "BREAK FALL" as we want no injuries..
Update- We not only have the competitors on the mat training but also Ottis, Drew and Emily. Good work guys, keep it up.
Update- we now only have 3 juniors, Amelie, Eva and Rylan in juniors and in Masters we have Penny. We lost Paris to the training, Michael to a motorbike accident and Blake to university.
Update- THE NATIONALS ARE HERE.. Congratulations this year’s Yuukan members in the NSW State Team and their fantastic performance at the 2015 Australian National Judo Championships, On the Friday Night saw Penny in the masters with two wins, first fight a black belt where she submitted her, the second one she won with a ground hold. Penny, as well as us were extremely happy for her and hope that she will go to many more competitions. She is now the 2015 Australian Judo National Champion.
Sunday evening saw Rylan, He lost his first fight, but it was his second fight that was unfortunate, he was winning with only 4 seconds to go and his opponent ran on to him as Rylan was watching the time and with this quick distraction meant it was over with less than 2 seconds remaining. These fights were awesome and although losses, this does not take away the effort and determination that Rylan had. We are so proud of Rylan and know that this experience was a great learning one for his first nationals.
Monday we saw Eva who lost her first fight but was able to regain a place by fighting for the bronze medal in an elimination. I can not be prouder with how she fought and unfortunately she lost this not because of not trying as she was on top of this fight, just because of strength. Just awesome for her first nationals.
Amelie won her first fight with great technique and style. Her second fight came down to brut force and although she fought off many “around the head” attacks she could not get passed them to do her techniques. Amelie won the silver medal. We are so proud of Ama, we will get her next time. Now they are over. Some had wins, Some had losses, BUT what you all did was compete and give it your best, For that we would like to congratulate each and every competitor that was on the mat over the last 4 days. Yuukan had some wins and we also had some losses, BUT that is not what makes a great judoka, it is the competitor who comes away a little wiser and who wants to learn more to make their wins easier or to correct what they did for their losses. WE are proud of each and every one of you who hopped on the mat to compete. CONGRATULATIONS
