Yuukan Judo Club and Budokan Judo Club
Yuukan Judo Club and Budokan Judo Club decided it was time for a fun inter-club training weekend, so on the 18th November 2010, we decided that we would host the first one.
We set out to have a great weekend, Chris, Kerrye and Rob had us all training hard for the first Saturday training session.
Our little club and its mats had never had that many people on them... EVER!!
Exhausted and starving we all got together for a BBQ dinner, This was also a time for us all to sit, relax and talk, something that at judo comps is near impossible.
AND chat we did, for many hours.
Valerie and Gayle had orgaised Surfing lessons on the Sunday, so bright and early the next morning, we all went down the beach.
Thanks to Richard and his learn to surf classes from Soulrider, the kids and many of the adults, who wanted to give surfing a go, had some quick surfing lessons before they hit the waves. Richard was very impressed with how many cottened on so fast, and couldnt believe that so many were up and surfing after just a couple of waves. He said that "it must be because of judo and the strength and balance that goes with it", he also said "that by the look of it, judo players make great surfers".
We spent nearly all day surfing, soaking up the sun and breathing the fresh air.
But all good things must come to an end, so with many tired and sunburnt kids we said our goodbyes.
We would like to thank Kerrye and Rob and the rest of Budokan for a much needed fun weekend. Till next time.
