Yuukan Judo Club

Judo is a great way to learn a martial art and also a skill for life. Yuukan Judo Club was started in 2009 by The Gautier and The Nolan families, with Sensei Chris Gautier a current Sho Dan and NCAS qualified Coach and Riley Nolan, Blake Nolan and Phoebe Flay as his assistant coaches. A non-for-profit judo club based at Ulladulla and also Bega, NSW, Yuukan is a fun environment to learn a martial art. Our clubs encourage everyone who would like to learn judo from as young as five years to the more mature aged. We have had many successes within our club, with State and National Representatives, four of whom help train and mentor the other members of our club with Sensei Chris.
Members travel interstate for tournaments they are ranked high against their peers and other judo clubs within Australia. It is a requirement for Yuukan Judo Club to be registered and insured with the Australia Kodokan which allows our members to compete and be covered in Australia and overseas. The club prides itself of being a family based organisation.
Yuukan Judo Club is a not-for-profit Judo club. The club aims to provide a safe, fun, healthy and positive sporting environment. The club promotes “Judo Spirit”, that is, respect, courage, inner strength and discipline.
At Yuukan students learn the art of Judo through high quality training where the emphasis is upon the development of correct technique. The club has experienced a number of successes with representatives taking out silver at Oceanias, gold, silver and bronze medals at the Australian National Judo Titles and numerous state representatives.
We were also one of only two clubs with in Judo NSW, who have a member who achieved and awarded the current Junior Gold referees certificate.
Our member, Blake, is the first ever male who was awarded this certificate, the other one being from a Sydney Judo Club, UNSW, they have the first ever Female . Karen. We would like to congratulate both Blake and Karen for such a great recognised achievement. This has now grown with other opportunities for other younger members to become registered referees.
Yuukan Judo Club is a small organisation taking approximately 30 students per term. Each of our state representatives assists Sensei Chris Gautier to teach the younger students which results in a sound understanding of technique and the development of mentors for the younger students.
